🚿 Daily hygiene supports both health and confidence. Regular bathing or showering helps remove bacteria, sweat, and dirt that can lead to skin irritation and body odor—especially for students participating in physical activity or sports.

We also celebrated our Employee of the Month, Jamie Abell, and gave a bittersweet but loud cheer for Mr. Lonnie as we wished him a happy farewell into retirement. Thank you for making our school shine! ✨

Extreme Cold Safety Information

What's Happening

Starting tonight at 7pm through Saturday 1pm we are going to be experiencing dangerously cold wind chills of 20° to 40° below zero.

  • IMPACTS:

    • Frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes

    • High risk of hypothermia, especially with prolonged exposure

    • Ruptured water pipes due to extended freezing temperatures

    • Conditions are well outside typical cold weather norms

These temperatures are especially dangerous for vulnerable populations including children, older adults, individuals without reliable heat, and anyone spending time outdoors.

How to Stay Safe

  • Limit time outdoors whenever possible

  • Wear layers, including hats, gloves, scarves, and insulated boots

  • Cover all exposed skin

  • Bring pets indoors or provide adequate shelter

  • Check on neighbors, family members, and anyone who may need assistance

  • Keep phones charged and emergency supplies accessible

Heating & Home Safety

  • Keep indoor temperatures consistent

  • Let faucets drip slightly to prevent frozen pipes

  • Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate

  • Use space heaters safely and never leave them unattended

Forecast Information

Warming Shelters

Final Reminder

This level of cold can become life-threatening very quickly. Please take precautions, plan ahead, and help protect those around you.

🐯🐯🐯 Today MES Kindergarten–2nd grade students attended a musical production by the TIGER Group from Plymouth State University. Through engaging theatre, music, and dance, students learned about the importance of being true to themselves and standing up for what they know is right. The performance thoughtfully explored caring for oneself and others in ways that were meaningful and age-appropriate. 🐯🐯🐯

The TIGER message reminded students to:

T – Trust yourself

I – Include others

G – Give to others

E – Empower yourself and others

R – Respect yourself and others

Dear Families

The MTSD will do an early release schedule today, Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Although the snowfall is not expected to begin until noon, an early release will allow our second bus run (Milton Elementary School) to get the children home before the roads get too slippery and before darkness sets in.

The afternoon PreK will be cancelled.

MHS and MMS will dismiss at 1:30

MES will dismiss at 2:30.

Thank You and Happy Holiday

MES loves our community partners! Today members of the Milton Artists Guild collaborated with Mrs. Turner’s 2nd graders on a beautiful painting project. A big thank-you to the parents who also volunteered their time to support this creative experience!

💖We love our parent volunteers at MES!💖 Whether it’s playing math games, helping with special projects, or sharing their own knowledge with our students, their involvement makes such a difference. Recently, one of our first-grade classes was treated to a special lesson from a parent volunteer who taught them all about life and celebrating holidays where she grew up — in Germany! Talk to your child’s teacher about how you can volunteer in the classroom!

Recently, one of our Kindergarten classes enjoyed a special story time with a parent who read books in both English and Spanish. Moments like these make our school community shine. If you’re interested in volunteering, reach out to your child’s teacher to learn more!
