☀️ Summer Wellness Series: Hike VT
Enjoy all Vermont has to offer by taking a hike!
Hiking is proven to have many health benefits, ranging from the physical exercise you get when out on the trail, to emotional or mental relief that comes from being in nature.
You can check out Vermont State Park Hikes at https://www.vtstateparks.com/hiking
Remember to always go with a friend, let someone know where you are going, where bug spray and stay on paths! ☀️

TOMORROW July 2nd is our weekly meal kit drive-thru distribution day! Based on last week’s demand, we will have MORE AVAILABLE this week. FREE meal kits (one kit per child aged 18 and under) containing the equivalent of 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and a gallon of milk. Kits are available at Bombardier Park West on a first come, first serve basis rain or shine. No registration required. These meals are not intended for children receiving free meals in summer school or summer camp. We look forward to seeing you there!

After applying appropriate sunscreen, head out and enjoy the weather! Did you know? Exposure to sunlight is said to increase the serotonin released by your brain. Serotonin is a hormone associated with improving and boosting your mood. It can also help a person feel calmer and more focused on their tasks.☀️

☀️ Summer Wellness Series: Social Media and Mental Health
Did you know? Those who spend more than 3 hours a day on social media are twice as likely to experience symptoms of anxiety and depression. Recent surveys show teens average about 3.5 hours per day on social media.
Families can support healthy habits by creating tech-free zones, encouraging face-to-face connections, modeling responsible online behavior, and discussing digital safety.. ☀️

☀️ Summer Wellness Series: Keep a Routine!
It is helpful for everyone, children and adolescents, as well as adults, to have a routine and to allocate time to a variety of activities. Create a plan that centers on being healthy and connected. A daily schedule doesn’t always have to look the same. Be flexible and give yourself something to look forward to each day: get outside, connect with family and friends, make time for yourself, make time for fun, and especially create moments of joy throughout the day. ☀️

🍎 MTSD Summer Onsite Meals begin MONDAY!
FREE meals are available for all children ages 18 and under, regardless of town of residence or family income. No ID is required.
We look forward to seeing you there! See the flyer for additional information.
Meals will be served onsite in the MHS Cafeteria.

As the buses rolled out today, we couldn't help but feel so proud of our students. Have a safe and terrific summer, MES! ☀️🚌💛

🎨✨ As our amazing 4th graders prepare to transition to Middle School, they are leaving behind a beautiful piece of themselves for all of Milton Elementary to enjoy.
For the past few weeks, they’ve been working hard on a stunning new mural inspired by their studies of Vermont and Milton. 🏔️🌲
A HUGE thank you to local artist Rebecca Chomyn of Twisted Perception Metal Works (@vtsteellady) and the Milton Artists Guild for designing and facilitating this project. We also want to give a huge shoutout to our incredible PTA and, of course, our talented 4th graders! This art will bring joy to future MES students for years to come. 💛

With warmer temperatures in the forecast, we encourage families to take extra precautions to help students stay safe and comfortable during the school day.
💧 Stay hydrated
🧢 Wear lightweight clothing
🌳 Take breaks in the shade when possible
☀️ Be aware of the signs of heat-related illness

Milton Elementary School is incredibly proud to celebrate fourth-grade students John Audette, Mia Singh, and Zelie Hecker for their exceptional participation in the prestigious Vermont Golden Dome Book Award program. Sponsored by the Vermont Department of Libraries to honor excellence in children's literature, this statewide program challenges students in grades 4 through 8 to read from a curated shortlist of 25 middle-grade books before casting their ballots for a winner. As the youngest eligible participants, these three readers demonstrated outstanding motivation and a remarkable work ethic by diving into advanced literature with deep focus and curiosity. Their hard work and dedication serve as an inspiring example of academic excellence, and we congratulate them on this fantastic achievement!

Summer EBT Benefits are Coming!
Vermont is issuing Summer EBT benefits starting in June. Most children who are eligible will receive the $120 benefit automatically. Benefits can be used to buy food at grocery stores, farmer’s markets, and online where EBT cards are accepted.
The Vermont Department for Children and Families will send you a letter if your family will get the benefit automatically. If you already have an EBT card, the benefits will be added to that card. If you need a replacement card, you can call 1-888-354-0012 (Option 7). If you think you qualify, but you do not receive a letter by July, please visit https://summerebt.vermont.gov/ to submit a short application. Summer EBT benefits do not affect your immigration status.

🔥 This morning, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics VT cruised past Milton Elementary. A huge shoutout to our own Officer Porter for carrying the flame and representing Milton with pride! 👮♂️
A massive THANK YOU to our @miltonpta and all of the wonderful parent and MHS student volunteers who gave their time and energy to help make this day a huge success. 🤝❤️
