FY27 Budget Video

The Milton Town School District has released a brief video overview of the proposed FY27 budget, titled Investing in Our Students, Mindful of the Community.

This year’s budget reflects a careful balance between supporting high-quality educational opportunities for our approximately 1,480 students and responding to significant financial pressures facing schools across Vermont. Rising health care costs, changes in state and federal revenue, and a decline in Milton’s Common Level of Appraisal have all influenced the budget development process.

To help reduce the tax impact on the community, the Board made several strategic compromises, including staffing reductions and transportation adjustments. The district is also using reserve funds and prior-year fund balance to further ease the burden on taxpayers.

Even with these challenges, the proposed budget maintains core programming that supports student success, including Advanced Placement courses, world languages, and targeted math and literacy interventions.

Community members are encouraged to learn more, attend a Joint Informational Meeting, and make their voices heard.

Budget Vote: March 3
